Description

From sinks to appliances, counters to cabinet hardware, Stainless Steel Kitchen Cabinets are still a popular kitchen trend, favored for their stylish look and durability. However, sturdy stainless steel can produce unsightly scratches in everyday activities. Fortunately, these signs of wear can be minimized and even scratches on stainless steel can be completely removed.

Look closely and you will find brush marks on the stainless steel surface – this is called particles, which is the result of the manufacturing process. No matter which scraping method or product you use, just wipe it in the right direction. Going the wrong way, you will make the problem worse.

The steps to properly handle scratches on stainless steel surfaces are as follows:

1. Using non-abrasive compounds, you can even use whitening toothpaste at a critical juncture.

2. If you are using a powdered stainless steel scratch removal compound, add enough water at a time to produce a paste that is roughly the same consistency as the toothpaste.

3. Apply a small amount of scraping remover to the microfiber cloth, then wipe gently back and forth over the scratches to work in the direction of the metal particles. Continue until the scratch buffer.

4. Gently wipe the surface with a fresh, almost non-wetting microfiber cloth to remove any compound residue. Wipe dry with another fresh microfiber cloth. If necessary, repeat steps 2 and 3 to completely remove scratches on the stainless steel surface.

For larger crucibles that do not react to the compound, use a stainless steel scratch removal kit.

Starting with the appropriate grit recommended for a particular scratch, you need to eliminate the scratch with the particles, only in one direction – using the abrasive back and forth may result in an unattractive round mark. Use only the pressure required to remove scratches; do not oversize or exceed the necessary.

To keep your metal surface looking new, avoid using abrasive materials or steel wool for regular cleaning and maintenance. Protect your stainless steel sink with a rubber placemat when washing heavy pots or cast iron. Always remove the mat after cleaning, so that the water will not be trapped underneath, causing the water to discolor.
